Judge approves policy, but delays oversight board

The work on the settlement agreement has been ongoing since 2012, and my office has been actively engaged in this issue for the last 3.5 years. I understand the Mayor's frustration with the ruling yesterday, and I’m concerned about further delays to this process. I’m also confident this council is more than capable of making qualified appointments to the nominating committee.

However, in 4 months, Portlanders will elect an entirely new Mayor and City Council. They are the ones ultimately responsible for continuing this critical work. We must trust democracy.
